How to pick the perfect time to go to Disney World
It's the question everyone wants to know - when is the perfect time to go to Disney World? That answer defers from person to person and even from trip to trip but we have a few tricks up our sleeve that you can use to pick the perfect time to go to Disney World for you and your family.
STEP 1 - NARROW IT DOWN
Obviously, the first step is to narrow down when you are ABLE to go to Disney World. Look at your schedule and find two or three chunks of time that would work for you to go. Within these chunks of time, give yourself plenty of wiggle room so that you can play with your dates (more on this below). The more options you have to maximize the magic of your vacation.
STEP 2 - LOOK AT THE CROWDS
Disney vacations and crowds are often go hand in hand in people's minds when thinking about visiting Disney World. But that doesn't have to be the case! Obviously, if you are only able to go in the summer or Holiday months, you will have less options for low crowds but we have a little secret that can at least help you narrow down the lowest crowds for the times you are able to go.We use the Crowd Calendar by Undercover Tourist. This helpful little online calendar will show you anticipated crowd levels based on a scale from 1/10. If you have a three week chunk of time that you are able to go on a one week trip to Disney World, look at the calendar and see how you can shift your vacation to avoid large crowds. This has been a life saver for us planning our trips and has let us visit at very low crowd times.
STEP 3 - SIGN-UP FOR DISNEY WORLD EMAILS
No, we aren't getting paid to say that. When you sign up to get Disney World emails, they will let you know when promotions become available for vacations. If you plan far enough out, you will be able to jump on great deals before all the most popular hotels get booked up. You can also see all the promotions Disney World is currently running on this page. While you wait for a promotion to get released, you can always look through all the Disney resorts and pick out a few of your favorites so that you are ready for the next step.
STEP 4 - PLAY DEVILS ADVOCATE
So you got your desired promotion in your email. Now its time to play devils advocate. Put in your vacation dates on the Disney World website. Look at the pricing and pick the top two or three resorts you would want to stay at. Now vary the dates by a few days on the front end and then a few days on the back end. We have seen vacations drop by over $800 just by adjusting our vacation by a few days. Make sure you refer back to the crowd calendar to see if the price difference is worth any change in crowd sizes.
