How to ride BIG kid rides WhiLE visiting with little ones

You have a dilemma. You want to ride Space Mountain but you have a little one in tow. Does that mean you and your partner have to both wait in the stand by line? Nope! Rider Swap was created just for this dilemma. Walt Disney World knows that families with young children are frequent visitors to the Most Magical Place On Earth and that often that means sitting out with those younger visitors when they don't want to or cant ride more thrilling park attractions. So here is what you need to know about Rider Swap!

How to use rider swap

Before you ride

Before your first party rides, make sure to visit the FastPass entrance area of the ride. There should be a few Cast Members there with tablets. Approach them and tell them that you would like some Rider Swap passes. In the past, you used to have to present your entire party to show proof that you had small ones not able to ride on the ride. Now with social distancing measures, I would encourage you to just send up one representative from your group. Make sure they have the Magic Bands or Key Cards for the riders in the second group because they will need to scan them.

How it works

The first group waits in the traditional standby line while the second group hangs out with the little ones. When the first group is done, the second group can go ride the ride through the fastpass queue, enabling them to "skip" the line and get to the ride quickly. Unlike Fastpasses, the second group is not required to return in a certain time period. They can redeem their Rider Swap entitlements at any time through out their day. The have to be used on the same day though.

The Nitty Gritty

The second group is limited to three guests. So if you are a group of seven adults and one child, four of the adults need to go in the first group and three adults can go in the second group. However, if you are a smaller group, this means that some members of your party can ride twice - once in the first group and then again in the second group.

Rider Swap is available on most rides that have a height requirement even Rise of the Resistance. In fact, it is one of the only ways that you can ride Rise of the Resistance twice in one day!
