runDisney Events Your Kids will love!

RunDisney events are fun and exciting ways to experience the parks in a whole new way. There are various runDisney events that take place throughout the year - some with extreme challenges like the Dopey Challenge in January where runners complete 48.6 miles in four days. Some races even allow you to run right through the castle and down main street! One of the coolest parts about runDisney events is that they have races designed to get the whole family involved - even kids!

runDisney Kids Races - runDisney for Kids

RunDisney offers 5K events design for kids as young as 5 years old. 5K races are a 3.1 mile course through Walt Disney World resort. During the race, you will see lots of characters! You can stop and take pictures with and then continue on the race path. Each runner receives a 5K finisher medal for completing the race and a participation shirt. They also offer on-course and post racer refreshments to make sure every runner is feeling the magic both during and after the race. These races a parent and a child run together.

5K events are available for the following races: Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon, Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend.

On top of 5K events during Disney race weekends, runDisney also offers kids only race events called Disney Kids Races. These are designed for kids of all ages. They include a 100- meter dash, a 200-meter dash and a Mickey Mile. Participants receive a t-shirt and a participation medal. These take place at Disney's Wide World of Sports and are a great way to get even your youngest runners into the fun. Disney's Kids Races generally happen in the spring or early summer. More info on those when they are released!

Disney is continuing to use virtual events alongside the in-person races which is great for introducing kids into runDisney without the financial investment of a trip and registration costs. Virtual events are a little bit cheaper than in-person events and still include a t-shirt and a medal. Races can be completed at any location and at any time.

Additional events

The Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend also offers a family friendly Disney Princess Sunrise Yoga. Though it hasn't been announced, traditionally these yoga sessions take place in front of Cinderella's castle in the Hub. Talk about a fun way to experience Disney!
